A Closer Look
On UMass Lowell’s East Campus alone, plans for LINC envision the creation of 1.2 million square feet of mixed-use space across three phases of construction, including:
600,000 sq. ft. of industry alongside university co-location space
Nearly 500 units of housing for professionals
More than 450 beds of student housing
University and city officials are also working with state and federal transportation officials to identify improvements to bridges and roadways in and around the LINC project. The goal is to connect the university with downtown, creating a walkable, interconnected community between this development, downtown and adjacent neighborhoods — areas where new housing developments in the city are already under construction.
Additional anticipated outcomes include:
1,300 construction jobs
2,000 permanent jobs over the next decade
$4 million to $6 million in new City of Lowell annual tax revenue
